Well, what a trip that was! Our tour of the gardens of Dumfries, Galloway & Ayr was nothing short of spectacular. We had the best of both worlds — exquisite gardens and the most glorious weather. The sun shone, the rhododendrons absolutely stole the show (several people said they’d never seen them looking better!), and the woodland gardens were at their pristine, late-spring best.
A huge thank you to Peter Harrison for leading the charge with his usual calm, capable charm — and to the wonderful group of members who joined us. A fabulous mix of old friends and new, full of warmth, wit, and great stories. The chats, the laughs, and the sense of camaraderie made this tour something really special.
The group visited some real gems — from the lush, tranquil paths of Corsock House and the elegant charm of Dumfries House, to the vibrant planting of Logan Botanic Garden and the wild beauty of Craichlaw. Though it’s hard to pick a favourite, Glenwhan Garden just might have shone that little bit brighter for many.
These tours are always about more than the gardens — they’re about sharing the joy of discovery with people who love plants, landscapes, and good company as much as we do. And this one will be remembered for all the right reasons.
Here’s to the next adventure — and if you haven’t travelled with us before, come along! You won’t be on your own for long.
