The first week of the new year brought cold conditions and a few inches of snow to us here in RHSI Bellefield.
Pretty, but very impractical, especially when there’s only weeks to go until we open for snowdrops!
Thankfully the thaw arrived and this week the place has been a hive of activity.
Borders are being weeded, plants divided and surfaces cleaned ready to welcome back the public on 7th 8th and 9th Feb.
Yesterday we were also delighted to welcome about 40 students from the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin who completed a day of dividing in the garden, putting Bellefield to use as a garden of practical learning. We had 4 stations, learning how to divide Iris ensata, Geranium nodosun, Galanthus nivalis and Iris confusa and germanica.
Special thanks goes to our volunteers who as ever helped us keep everything running smoothly! If you’re interested in volunteering please email bellefield@rhsi.ie
