Mount Venus is on the move

If you’ve ever wandered the winding paths of Mount Venus Nursery, you’ll know why it holds such a special place in the hearts of Irish gardeners and especially among RHSI members. This much-loved haven for hardy perennials is entering an exciting new chapter, and we’re thrilled to share the news.

From September 13th, 2025, Mount Venus will reopen in a spectacular new setting, just 400 metres up the road from its current home at the Walled Garden of Tibradden House, Dublin 16. It’s a move into a breathtakingly unique landscape, once a granite sand quarry, now transformed by decades of natural regeneration into a dreamlike world of sunken hollows, fern-covered slopes, and mature trees.

One of these hollows will become their new sales area, still filled with the plants we know and love, carefully propagated on-site and tough enough for Irish gardens. It’s all happening just in time for their annual Autumn Sale, when the nursery is at its most dazzling.

This year also marks a special milestone: Mount Venus is celebrating 25 years in business, and to mark the occasion, they’ve created a stunning limited-edition book:
SLOW | CREATION | QUIET | ROOTS | LISTENING.
A thoughtful, beautifully crafted reflection on their time in Tibradden and the spirit of the Dublin mountains, it’s the perfect keepsake for anyone who cherishes the soul of gardening. The book will be available at the new site from September onwards.
