We are delighted to announce the naming of three new daffodils, generously donated by renowned Omagh-based daffodil breeder Brian Duncan.
Brian Duncan has been breeding daffodils in Ireland for over 50 years and is recognised internationally as one of the finest in his field. His remarkable career has seen him raise thousands of hybrids and receive countless honours, including the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour, the highest award the Royal Horticultural Society can bestow.
Following consultation and collaboration with RHSI members, the three daffodils have now been named:
Narcissus ‘Mabel Wallace’ – commemorating a great friend and neighbour of RHSI Bellefield. (photo 1)
Narcissus ‘Anthony Harney’ – celebrating Anthony’s 48 years of dedicated gardening service at Russborough. (photo 2)
Narcissus ‘RHSI Blushing Pink’ – our members’ choice for this striking and elegant bloom. (photo 3)
These new cultivars not only honour individuals connected to the Society but also represent the spirit of community and collaboration at the heart of RHSI.
Bellefield House and Garden, bequeathed to the RHSI in 2021 by the late Angela Jupe, is steadily evolving into an important centre for Irish gardening. The addition of these newly named daffodils adds to its growing horticultural significance and heritage.
The gardens are open to visitors on select weekends in 2026 but why not join us this weekend for our last open weekend in 2025.
