Summer moves on here in RHSI Bellefield and as the peak of summertime moves away, we feel that progress can once more be made. Summer is often firefighting gardening – watering and weeds, but now mid summer is past we can look to other ideas.
One of them being the new woodland garden, which is developing nicely, albeit unplanted as of yet. News coming soon on that!
In the walled garden we’ve covered some of the bindweed infested borders in plastic to try combat the problem and help us get on top of the weeds there; we’ve also made great progress clearing the north border. Other borders we’ve replanted are finally starting to mature and the blue border feels like its partially tamed!
The dahlias are starting to take centre stage and I can’t wait to see this years batch of seedlings which are now in the carpark area.
Our volunteers have also being helping us do great clearance in the woods. Ready for some new planting in autumn and spring. If you’re interested in volunteering please email bellefield@rhsi.ie
