RHSI tour to Cork on June 11 th was a great success with weather holding good and members from East, West and North Cork and Tipperary and Dublin. The day began at Coosheen where a guided tour led by gardener Hester Forde took the visitors through the plant collection with lots of growing tips and plant recommendations. Finishing with homemade scones and tea and time to mingle the day was off to a great start.
Our driver then took us to Dunmore House where lunch was served with a sea view. As always food was utterly delicious.
That afternoon a visit to the garden of Nick and Karen Ensor near Clonakilty did not disappoint. Nick led half the group through compost making, the veg patch which was a work of art and the many wildlife areas in the garden. Karen led the other half through the planting of the garden and was there to answer our many questions. Of course, afternoon tea in the conservatory dripping with Bougainvillea was the icing on the cake. Thanks to all for making the day a success and a memorable one.
