Great Botanic Gardens of the World
Peter Wyse Jackson is the President of Missouri Botanic Garden and George Engelmann Professor of Botany at Washington University in St Louis.
Hailing from Kilkenny, he studied Botany at Trinity College Dublin and was administrator of the Trinity Botanic Gardens in Dartry. Moving to Kew, he helped to establish Botanic Gardens Conservation International before returning to Dublin as director of the National Botanic Gardens at Glasnevin. From there, he was appointed to his present position in 2010. Peter has helped to establish and develop botanic gardens and other organisations in over 30 countries and is deeply involved in the implementation of strategies for plant conservation. There
can hardly be anyone better placed to talk about ‘Great Botanic Gardens of the World’ and we are delighted that he can join us to share his thoughts and experience.
