Louth and Meath gardens day trip by coach on Saturday 6th August 2022
Cost: €89 (includes garden entries, gratuities, lunch and transport)

The Itinerary
Coach leaves Foxrock Church car park at 8:30.
Please be there at least 10 minutes before departure.
There will be a north side pick up at Ashbourne Pillo Hotel, Co. Meath at 9:30.
10:00 Visit to Rosie Mayes garden (The Insomniac Gardener) Slane, Co. Meath.
The owner Rosie will give us a personal tour of this three acre garden.
12:30 Lunch at Shanliss House, Ardee, Co. Louth.
Lunch is a hot and cold self-service buffet with wine and many non-alcoholic drinks (included in your tour price)
Shanliss is a working farm and garden where we will have a leisurely stroll before our feast of a lunch.
Please inform us of any special dietary requirements so these can be catered for.
14:30 Visit to Barmeath Castle, Dunleer, Co. Louth. Tea and coffee will be available outside weather permitting.
Return to Ashbourne Pillo Hotel for 17:15 and return to Foxrock Church car park for 18:30

The Gardens
Insomniac Gardener
Rosie Maye’s garden is close to Slane village – three acres of relaxed gardens, including a pond, a white garden, a woodland, a vegetable garden, beautiful pots and a plant sales area. The entertaining host will guide us around her garden with a personal account of her favourite plants. This is sure to be an enjoyable morning.
Shanliss House
A beautiful country estate and historical house on a working farm where we will receive a tasty and generous lunch prepared by the home owner. This visit is sure to leave fantastic memories of a very enjoyable experience.
Barmeath Castle
An historic castle set in fine parkland grounds where we will enjoy a guided tour by the owners, the Bellew family.
The gardens include a lake, a recently restored walled garden with vegetable areas and fruit trees, a woodland area and some wonderful sculpture pieces. Respect to wildlife and nature is given in this garden.
