Des Doyle is a Garden Designer who has been developing the gardens at Lavistown House, Kilkenny since 2010. In his talk ‘Gravel Garden Heaven’ he will focus on the recent re-design of the plantings in his garden to include tougher, longer performing plants which thrive in a gravel environment. Now he waters much less, never stakes plants and enjoys interesting and relatively weed free days!
This talk explores how he made the garden, the plantings he chose, the criteria he used to select plants plus the nuanced thinking behind combining great structural planting with year round interest. He will go through the highs, lows and the learnings and include the plants that deliver the views throughout the year.
